Four generations of the Rowley family gathered at Lake Hawea Station last weekend for a reunion of more than 90 family members.

Tom Rowley, of Lake Hawea, said family members had travelled from as far as London, Pakistan, Australia, as well as from around New Zealand for the reunion.

The Rowley family bought Lake Hawea Station in 1912, when Southland-raised farmer Jack Rowley and his wife Jessie (nee Kingan), of the Maungawera Valley, moved on to the farmstead.

The couple had originally farmed at Mt Burke Station, on the eastern shore of Lake Wanaka's at Stevensons Arm.

The family reunion included a day trip by 4WD vehicle to the top of Breast Hill, overlooking Lake Hawea, and some "absolutely fantastic" celebratory dinners with family members crowded into the station's woolshed, Mr Rowley said.
