If successful it will be a remarkable comeback by a club which folded in the late 1950s, was revived in the late 1980s and then went closest to a major win by finishing runner-up in the 1995 Otago Country Wide Premier Division championship.
So far this season the Bulls have a near-perfect record - just one loss in 14 games - to sit on top of the premiership with 60 points, five clear of Matakanui, which inflicted their only defeat (15-12) on June 21.
Bulls coach Richie Anderson said there was no secret to the team's success this season.
"It's a hunger, a desire to win. I am proud of them, but I'd never tell them that.
"The committee has gone overboard to make sure that everything's fine for the team - all they have to do is get there and play.
"It's a different feeling than would be in Queenstown."
Anderson said the team had also been fortunate to have former Southlander and open side flanker Aiden Winter as its skipper, one who led from the front.
"As a skipper, he leads by example - he has a big heart."
"We're trying very hard to promote him to the Otago Air New Zealand Cup side.
"[Otago coach] Steve Martin watched him last weekend [in Cromwell] - he's looking for an open side flanker and in country [rugby] I don't think there's any better than Aiden."
While a win in Wanaka tomorrow would guarantee the 2008 title for his side, Anderson realises there is an alternative scenario, albeit complicated.
If Matakanui beats Alexandra tomorrow and scores a bonus point for scoring four tries - and if Arrowtown loses by more than 7 points - then Arrowtown and Matakanui would be tied on 60 points.
However, Arrowtown has a game in hand, having not played Maniototo on June 7 because of snow, so, if need be, the game could still be played.
But Anderson said his team was not focusing on the things it could not control and was aiming to take the championship by winning tomorrow.
"At this stage, we're going full force to beat Upper Clutha.
"It isn't going to be easy - last time we played them it was 7-6 to us - but we are determined to create history.
"The Upper Clutha coach might think we're being a bit cocky about it, but I'm their coach, I'm allowed to be."
Kick off for the game is 2.45pm at "Merino Stadium" - the Wanaka Showgrounds.
Should the Bulls win, the Otago Country Wide Premier Division final is scheduled for August 2 in Lawrence against the South Otago premier competition winner, Lawrence.
