A Queenstown operation has scored a five-star Qualmark rating in the backpacker accommodation category, the highest rating possible.
Nomads Queenstown Backpackers Hostel, which opened on Church St in July, 2009, features dorm share to family rooms and deluxe king rooms with fridge, tea and coffee facilities and plasma screen televisions.
The property includes a large communal lounge with open fireplaces, a cinema lounge and a heated spa.
All dorm rooms at Nomads have storage lockers and individual bedside reading lights and many of the rooms have balconies with views of Queenstown's lake or mountains.
All rooms come fully made up with sheets and duvets and most of the shared dorm accommodation has an ensuite bathroom. The hostel has 24-hour reception, 24-hour internet and a free spa.
Base Discovery Lodge (five-star), Kinloch Lodge (four-star plus), Queenstown Central YHA (four-star plus) and Queenstown Lakefront YHA (four star) are other hostels rated by New Zealand tourism's official quality agency in the Wakatipu.
