Icy conditions cause accidents on roads

Icy roads created treacherous conditions for motorists yesterday morning.

Emergency services attended one single-vehicle crash near Wanaka airport about 9am, where a double-cab utility flipped after its driver lost control on an icy road. Constable Phil Vink said the two men in the vehicle were not injured.

• Te Anau police attended two accidents within minutes of each other yesterday. Constable Glen Matheson said a motorist was flown to Invercargill Hospital with a suspected broken arm and bleeding after a van left State Highway 94 between Te Anau and Mossburn about 9.15am.

Minutes earlier another vehicle slid off the same road, but there were no injuries.
