International flavour for festival's final night

The streets of Queenstown will come alive during a celebration of the resort's multicultural diversity on the final night of the Queenstown Winter Festival.

Festival organisers announced the inaugural Auckland Airport Community Carnival is set for Sunday, June 30, from 4pm-7pm.

Revellers will be able to take a tour of the world's culture and cuisine by visiting 20 food stalls run by Wakatipu community groups on Beach, Camp and Rees Sts, Cow Lane and Earnslaw Park.

In the New Zealand zone, Queenstown Primary School will prepare a hangi and perform kapa haka.

The Queenstown Deer Stalkers' Association will serve venison burgers.

South Americans offer gourmet sausages and sandwiches from Zamora Homemade, along with performances by Carmen the South American Flamenco dancer.

Remarkables Primary School will sell American-style chocolate brownies and pupils will provide themed entertainment.

Other international food delicacies will include Guinness pies from Ireland, Belgian waffles, Indian bhajis, Japanese sushi, Filipino pork belly and steaming French onion soup.
