New ski trail being formed

Earthworks are being carried out on the Treble Cone skifield, near Wanaka, to increase and improve the field's intermediate ski terrain.

A new intermediate trail called Side Saddle is being formed between the Raffills and Bullet runs, in the Saddle Basin.

Marketing and sales manager Nick Noble said the area collected good natural snow and had been under-utilised.

Improvements were also being made to some advanced trails.

A new open-air cafe was being built at the top of the Home Basin and new snow fencing installed.
