A heavily pregnant woman received medical attention after a two-car collision near Wanaka Airport yesterday but neither she nor her unborn child were injured.
Senior Constable Ian Henderson said the accident was caused when a station wagon driven by a 23-year-old Wanaka woman pulled out from the airport driveway into the path of a utility travelling towards Luggate on State Highway 6.
Snr Const Henderson said the driver of the station wagon was the sole occupant and was not injured.
A charge of dangerous driving was "very likely", he said.
The pregnant woman (26) was a front-seat passenger in the ute, which was being driven by her husband (26), who was not injured.
The couple are from Timaru.
Snr Const Henderson said the man's driving was a good example of defensive driving.
When he saw the station wagon moving, he had time to flick off cruise control and slow down from about 100kmh to 60kmh.
