Ohau skifield to close

Ohau Snow Fields will farewell winter this weekend before closing for the season on Monday night.

Christchurch reggae-funk band Soulsystem will play in the skifield bar for a retro ski party on Saturday night and the fluoro ski action will continuing on Sunday, with "Hot Dog Day". The field will stay open for the South Canterbury Anniversary day on Monday.

The next scheduled closures will be Snow Park on October 1, and Cardrona and Treble Cone on October 2.

NZSki chief executive James Coddington said Coronet Peak was scheduled to close on October 2, the Remarkables on October 9 and Mt Hutt on October 16.

A spokesman for Snow Farm said the cross-country skiing area would stay open as long as snow conditions allowed.
