Subculture and its co-owner-operator Antonia Crowley have been submitted by Beam Global Spirits as the New Zealand entry for Russian Standard Vodka's worldwide-distributed cocktail book next year.

Miss Crowley said she invented a roasted tamarillo and watercress cocktail for a vodka product launch in September.

"Wild NZ piko piko" used the same vodka and incorporated the all-season edible baby tree-fern frond, she said.

The cocktail was inspired by New Zealand bush ingredients that grow in native subtropical forest.

The ingredients include 45ml of vodka, vanilla-roasted wild blackberries, vanilla sugar, lime wedges and cloudy apple juice.

Miss Crowley's chilli tequila chocotini cocktail appears in The Great New Zealand Cocktail Book, released this month.

The $17 piko piko cocktail will be available at Subculture from this weekend.
