Eleven young Queenstown residents, who had not had the opportunity to enjoy the snow sports season, hit the slopes, courtesy of Cardrona Alpine Resort, R&R Sport and Info and Track, recently.
The skifield operator, the outdoor adventure retailer and visitor information centre invited members of the Youth Booth and two youth workers for a day, with a lesson, clothing and gear hire and hot chocolate, Wakatipu Youth Trust team leader Poppie Gerber said. Among the teenagers was a 19-year-old Afghan refugee now a New Zealand citizen, whose ambition was to serve in the New Zealand Army, Miss Gerber said.
