A total of $22,000 was raised at St Joseph's School's fundraising book fair on Sunday.
St Joseph's PTA member Nicky Thompson said the fair, held at the school on Beetham St, was popular despite the rain.
The amount raised was a little short of the $25,000 target and it would be used to help pay for the school's playground upgrade.
