Queenstown's Inner Wheel Club gave Happiness House four new sewing machines recently.
The Inner Wheel Club has 40 kind-hearted local members who meet every second Wednesday of the month for a cup of tea and a chat.
Club president Margaret Bullmen said the club existed to promote friendship, assist local charities and meet like-minded women for good socialising.
"It's amazing what a cup of tea does to get people talking.
"It's all about friendship, really, but we like to give to charity."
Charity is what the ladies do best as they divide any money they have raised between two or three charities each year.
This year, the club decided Happiness House Queenstown was a worthy recipient of four shiny new Bernette 56 Bernina sewing machines.
"We normally divide the money up, but we really like what they do [at Happiness House]," Mrs Bullmen said.
Funded by a community trust, Happiness House provides family support and counselling in the Wakatipu region.
Trustee Angela Dolan, of Arrowtown, said it catered for "anyone in Queenstown who is isolated and doesn't have a support system or are struggling financially".
Happiness House activities co-ordinator Andrea Balona said she was excited when Inner Wheel asked what was on the charity's "wish list".
The charity opted for the sewing machines, as it hosts a very popular craft day each Tuesday and the machines would be of great use.
"We've got a lot of mothers who don't have the skills and tools at home, so these will be fantastic."
She estimated that about 30 people used the two machines that are currently at the Park St centre.
"We've got one or two gentlemen who also like to sew."
