Three major RWC events confirmed

Destination Queenstown has confirmed its three major events, part of the Real New Zealand Festival, being held in conjunction with the Rugby World Cup 2011.

Joining the Classic All Blacks match announced last week are three more events and experiences in and around Queenstown to entice domestic and international guests to visit the resort in September and October.

Matches Made in Heaven is scheduled to run throughout RWC, from September 1 to October 23. It will celebrate the district's unique and world-class food, wine and artistic offerings. These will include events, special menus, art tours and exhibitions run by local cafes, restaurants, producers, winemakers and art galleries.

Taste Queenstown will be held over two weekends, October 7-8 and 14-15, in Earnslaw Park.

This mini food, wine and art festival, over the RWC quarterfinal and semifinal weekends, will include events, live performances and locally produced arts and crafts.

Finally, the Queenstown Jazz Festival will be a five-day music feast from October 20 to 24.

Earnslaw Park will be the hub of the festival.

Destination Queenstown marketing general manager Graham Budd said Queenstown was renowned for throwing a good party, so the festival was the perfect opportunity for visitors and residents to "take a few days off and come and join in the fun".
