Shihad frontman Jon Toogood has teamed with several of New Zealand's leading singer-songwriters, including Julia Deans (Fur Patrol) and Shayne Carter (Dimmer, Straitjacket Fits), to form the Adults. The trio has created an album of collaborations and brings the fruits of its labour to Queenstown this month.

The Adults was a project Toogood started last year during a hiatus from Shihad, the hit-making rock band he co-founded 22 years ago.

Released last month, The Adults' self-titled LP features contributions from Ladi6, Anika Moa, Tiki Taane, Shapeshifter's Redford Grenell, Little Bushman's Warren Maxwell, Ruban and Kody Neilson from the Mint Chicks, along with Carter, Deans and others.

The Adults will be joined in Queenstown and for all shows by F In Math, the electronic solo project of former Mint Chicks bassist Michael Logie.

• The Adults, with F In Math, Revolver, Thursday, July 28. Tickets cost $37, including booking fee, from Quest, on Shotover St, plus www.dashtickets.co.nz
