
The trust decided to discuss how a consultation process could work with community services general manager Paul Wilson.
Trustees decided to create a comprehensive map of the district that indicated their preferred sites for the installation of future sculptures. The map would be used if consultation was opened to the public.
The trust had about $52,400 in its budget after it spent $30,000 in May on three of the cone-like pieces that made up The Peaks, a sculpture by Wellington artist Rebecca Rose. The pieces were to be placed on Wanaka's Bridgeman Green.
The contentious issue of public involvement in art selection and installation followed earlier controversy over the Icon sculpture.
The $90,000 solid bronze fern, by Palmerston North sculptor Paul Dibble, was installed in the Queenstown Gardens in May after almost a year in storage. The community services committee decided in July 2008 the sculpture was inappropriate for its originally proposed location, on Brian Smith Park, after landscaping work at the small reserve.
Chairwoman Janet Malloch, of Wanaka, treasurer Angus Welsh and secretary Jan Maxwell, plus trustees Jeri Elliot, David Clarke, Sally Middleton, Carrick Jones, Gary Mahon, Margaret O'Hanlon and Cr Gillian Macleod were returned to their positions within the trust.
