A tipping test of the refloated Wanaka pontoon has been postponed until next week.
Queenstown Lakes District Council project manager Rob Darby, of Wanaka, said the tests for the re-engineered pontoon would take place under the direction of council harbourmaster Marty Black.
The pontoon, which was pulled from the lake in February after crowds of swimmers regularly overcrowded the platform to capsize it, was returned to the water this week.
It is moored in shallow water at the Lake Wanaka Marina and will not be returned to its former position off the main beach of Wanaka until testing is complete, Mr Darby said.
The council has asked for about 60 volunteers to try to test whether amended buoyancy features on the pontoon guarantee the structure cannot be tipped over.
