Wanaka Yacht Club members provide a guard of honour for Trevor Hawke in Wanaka yesterday as he is farewelled by several hundred people.
The respected 70-year-old Wanaka yachtsman went missing in Roys Bay after falling from his yacht on November 17.
His body was found in deep water near Eely Point on Sunday, November 27, after an extensive search and rescue effort by police and navy divers and Wanaka Coastguard volunteers.
His death has been referred to the coroner.
Yesterday's funeral service was led by justice of the peace, Ralph Fegan.
Tributes were given by several family members and friends, as well as representatives from the Wanaka Yacht Club, vintage car club, deerstalkers' club and Jaycees.
