In this week's Join The Club, Christina McDonald talks to Emma Dagg, of the Ceroc Southern Lakes branch.

The easiest dance to learn awaits those willing to put their feet on the dance floor, and a partner isn't a necessity.

Emma Dagg, who teaches ceroc at the St Peter's Hall on Monday nights, said she calls the dance style - which is a mix of other dances - ''a blank canvas ... because you get to paint it any colour you want''.

While it is a partner dance, participants are not required to bring a partner, as dance partners are swapped during the class.

Dancers in the Monday night ceroc classes are ''a real mixture of people'' and ''you would never get these people in a room together otherwise''.

There are married people who come on their own, those with partners and single people.

''It's just a nice way to meet people.''

As well as the many friendships that have emerged from ceroc, marriages have also resulted.

Classes are held on Monday nights and Mrs Dagg said dancers could start at any time, as four moves are taught during each class.
