Two Upper Clutha residents announced their plans this week to stand at the local body elections in October - bringing to four the number of known candidates.
Community board member Ross McRobie said the Upper Clutha needed strong leadership and strategic thinking as it faced an unprecedented growth forecast for the next 12-15 years.
Mr McRobie was a chartered accountant for more than 30 years and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
He is a member of the board of the New Zealand Film Commission and New Zealand on Air, a trustee of Warbirds Over Wanaka and chairman of the Otago Community Trust.
She served three terms on the Wanaka Community Board between 1998 and 2010 and served on the council from 2010 to 2013 but was not re-elected.
Ms Battson said it had been great to have a term off and "it's great to see the fruition of all the work I was a part of'' - including the Wanaka sports facility.
In March, deputy mayor and Wanaka ward councillor Lyal Cocks confirmed he would run for mayor only.
Crs Ella Lawton and Calum MacLeod said they would stand again for the council.
