Franklin applied earlier this month for a 108-unit residential and visitor accommodation complex on a two-hectare site, near the golf clubhouse, which is bordered by McAdam Dr and Homestead Bay and Maori Jack Rds
He tells Mountain Scene he’s gone out for tender for civil works on the ‘Village Central’ project, and plans to begin earthworks as soon as consent’s granted, which he expects next month.
Franklin hit the headlines recently after four of his companies — Formcrete Construction, Founder Corporate, Falconer Corporate and SR Corporate — were placed in liquidation, with Inland Revenue claiming total tax liabilities of about $4.5million.
He said last month the companies were "historic entities" that were no longer part of his core operations, and their liquidation had no impact on his projects currently under way in Jack’s Point and elsewhere.
Franklin tells Scene the outstanding liabilities with creditors have been "tidied up", and he’s in "pragmatic discussions on resolving everything" with Inland Revenue.
The Village Central consent application says it’ll consist of 51 residential units in a mixture of standalone and duplex homes, and terraced apartments.
It’ll also have 57 units for year-round visitor accommodation, across three buildings on the site’s western side.
His other projects in Jack’s Point include Clubhouse Lane, Lake Tewa Alpine Residences and Tewa Lake Houses.
