The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided just after 10am yesterday.
The driver of one vehicle, an Otago Daily Times staff member, was not injured.
Police said the driver of the other vehicle would be charged with careless driving causing injury.
''He and two others [in his vehicle] were taken to hospital with minor to moderate injuries,'' a police spokesman said.
''Both vehicles were significantly damaged''.
