Hurling match a fundraising effort

A group of Irishmen have raised $1754 for two charities through what is believed to be the resort's first full-blown hurling match.

Queenstown team Band of Brothers played Canterbury GAA at the Recreation Ground in April. The money has been split between Ronald McDonald House Christchurch and the New Zealand Cancer Society.

The team is pictured on Sunday with Cancer Society local support worker Pip Speedy (right), along with mother and daughter Rachel Reynolds and Lala Wheeler (2), who had open-heart surgery and spent eight weeks at Ronald McDonald House.
