Cars were shut out of Arrowtown's main street yesterday in favour of tables for the town's annual long lunch.

Tables laden with food from various restaurants stretched the length of Buckingham St. Pictured is the mantra table, serving Indian food.

Along with umbrellas diners had the added extra of a cloudy sky after a series of sweltering days.

The lunch is in its third year, this time raising money for Cure Kids - which funds medical research into life-threatening illnesses affecting children.

Last year's planned recipients of the $5000 raised, the Queenstown Trails Trust, decided to ''pay it forward'' to the family of a Arrowtown baby girl with a cancerous tumour.

The lunch was organised by Queenstown Event Management.
