Police are looking for a man who ran from a Frankton shop with eight ski jackets about 3.40pm on Tuesday.
Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown, said the incident occurred at Boardertown, a skateboard and snowboard equipment store at the Five Mile shopping centre in Frankton.
• Police will examine CCTV footage from a Queenstown bar after a man said he was king-hit by another man early on Tuesday.
Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka said the 31-year-old victim suffered a head cut in the alleged assault, at Cowboys about 1am.
