Queenstown gadget fans are counting the days until they can get their hands on the latest-generation tablet from Apple, but when precisely it will happen is unclear.
Noel Leeming staff at Remarkables Park said when the iPad 3 was launched in San Francisco they expected the devices would be in their shop at the end of March.
The retailer was not taking orders at the moment but would advertise as soon as it was.
Staff at the Dick Smith outlet at Remarkables Park said release dates for the iPad 3 in New Zealand and Australia had yet to be declared and it, too, would not take orders until the dates were confirmed.
Stocks of the tablet's top-selling predecessor, the iPad 2, arrived in New Zealand three months after the device was announced by Apple in the United States in March 2011.
Stocks arrived in Auckland first, then trickled down to the rest of the country.
The iPad 2 arrived in Queenstown's Dick Smith shop about six months after the Apple announcement.
