Members of the Wakatipu Artistic Swimming Club had a golden weekend in Queenstown.At the South Island Artistic Swimming champs, held for the first time at Frankton’s Alpine Aqualand, the nine-strong Queenstown squad, ranging in age from 11 to 14, won the aquacombo routine; Emily Messingham, 13, was first in the aquanaut figures, with Kuratea Huck, 14, in third; and then Emily and Kuratea teamed up to win the aquanauts duet. The squad’s now focused on the nationals, being held from September 28 to October 2 at Hamilton’s Waterworld.
