Ms Davies, 46, completed Ironman 70.3 Melbourne — a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and 21.1km run — in five hours and 19 minutes, which was an hour and 20 minutes faster than her first event in Taupo two years ago.
She finished 11th out of 16 women in her age group and 134th in a field of 320 females.
"I went into it with no goal in mind. I just wanted to give it my all and leave nothing on the table.
"And so, basically, my strategy was to go hard until I fell over, and fortunately I didn’t fall over."
Asked her best discipline, Ms Davies said "To be honest, I’m pretty mediocre at all of them."
She described Melbourne’s weather on the day as "awful".
"They had a massive storm roll into Melbourne, and so there were headwinds, there was rain, it was cold."
Ms Davies has now signed up for the same-distance Challenge Wānaka Half in February, "so that will be trying to improve all of my times across all the disciplines".
Her goal then will be to compete in a double-the-distance full Ironman next December.
