Stars come out to play in region

While two of the stars of Mission Impossible 6 are being recognised all over Queenstown, another seems to be able to fly under the radar.

Actress Michelle Monaghan uploaded a photo of herself on Wednesday, appearing to be on set in the Rees Valley, captioned ''Mission accepted. So thrilled to be reuniting with Tom Cruise for #MI6''.

It seems she arrived in the Wakatipu this week and since then has uploaded some scenic and set shots, as well as documenting her adventures.

A photo posted early yesterday morning showed her on the Shotover Jet, which she captioned ''Bucket list.'' along with a tick.

A couple of hours later, a photo showing her outside Eat Humble Pie's hole-in-the-wall store on Camp St had attracted 6400 likes.

When the Otago Daily Times visited business owner Mike Burke to ask if he remembered Monagahan visiting, he drew a blank.

''I don't know her from a bar of soap,'' he said, before asking if it was ''Lorde''.

''She looks a bit like her.''

He did not believe she purchased one of his homemade pies.

On Thursday, Monaghan posted a photo of a blackboard outside a Queenstown bar advertising mulled wine, with a quote ''Alcohol may not solve all your problems, but neither has milk''.

She captioned that: ''The other side of the world is very sensible''.

Her MI6 co-stars, Simon Pegg and Henry Cavill, have also been snapped around Queenstown.

Pegg, who was photographed with staff and diners at Bespoke Kitchen on Sunday afternoon also posed for a photo with staff at Toro Kitchen and Bar, in The Mall, on Sunday night.

It appears he dined at Josh Emett and Fleur Caulton's Madam Woo restaurant, also in The Mall, on Wednesday night.

On Thursday the restaurant posting a photo of he and their staff, while a waitress also posted a photo with him saying she had served him a ''chicken salad and I'm not okay #starstruck''.

Meanwhile, Henry Cavill posted a scenic shot of Lake Wakatipu, looking towards Glenorchy, on Tuesday captioned ''there's a little bit of magic in this place''.

He has also been snapped with fans in the resort - one photo of him inside a bar was captioned: ''You know you've nailed your career when you serve Superman the perfect pint of Guinness!''

He was also snapped with a fan on Rees St who said it was ''like a dream'' to meet him.

''I seriously felt like a kid watching Superman walk past with his cape. But it was awesome just taking a pic with him''.

Earlier this week, a photo of him with three women labelled him an ''absolute true gent''.

Writer, co-producer and director Christopher McQuarrie has also been posting regularly to Instagram.

Along with scenic shots of the Wakatipu and what appears to be Milford Sound, McQuarrie has also uploaded photos of the stars.

One is of Rebecca Ferguson cuddling a sheep, while another shows Pegg with a straw inserted into a hot water bottle strapped to his chest.

On Thursday night, McQuarrie posted a photograph showing the Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters hangar, at Frankton.

The movie's star, Tom Cruise, has only been seen in public once so far, at Queenstown Airport after spending the morning flying around the area in a matte-black chopper.
