Tradies' tools taken in Lake Hayes Estate burglaries

Burglars appear to be targeting tradie tools in Queenstown again, as police investigate a spree of burglaries and break-ins.

Sergeant Steve Watt said three cars were broken into in the Haddows Pl-Bridesdale Dr area of Lake Hayes Estate overnight on February 26.

Nothing was taken in the first break-in, but a large number of tools, a toolbox, and a car radio were taken in the second and third incidents.

Police are also investigating after a house in Wynyard Cres, Fernhill, was broken into on February 27.

Sgt Watt said items including a TV, iPad, laptop, and a watch were taken.

The incidents may be linked, he said.

"We're following up some strong leads, but we're very, very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in that area over that period of time.''

He said the incidents were a "timely reminder'' to people to ensure they locked their doors, and kept valuables out of sight.
