The NZ Transport Agency has struck trouble during work along Queenstown's Frankton Rd.

The agency announced in May it was spending $150,000 on three road improvements, to be done by contractor Fulton Hogan.

They were a new bus stop and pedestrian refuge at Larch Hill Pl, a pedestrian refuge near Perkins Rd, and a new footpath and pedestrian refuge at Hensman and Andrews Rds.

Agency senior safety engineer Roy Johnston said a water main was found at Larch Hill Pl, where a wall was to be built. The main has to be shifted.

Mr Johnston said in an emailed statement: "This can't happen until later this year, hence the Larch Hill Pl pedestrian refuge and gabion wall won't be completed until then. The new bus stop at Larch Hill and the other two sites should be completed by the end of June.''
