A crash in a remote part of West Otago has left six people injured, including two in Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to Manuka Rd at the Rankleburn Forest just before 5pm following reports six of the seven male occupants of the van were injured.
"Two have serious injuries; they were thrown out of the van," a St John Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.
The pair were taken to Dunedin Hospital by the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter and remained in a serious condition last night.
Four other patients were taken by ambulance to Gore Hospital, while the unhurt person travelled by private vehicle to Gore.
Tapanui Volunteer Fire Brigade chief Roger O'Leary said he believed the men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were in the area to plant trees for a contractor.
Further details were unavailable last night
