It was a jovial hour before the Call to Order at 6.30pm, as members and friends gathered.
The theme was blue, silver and white, and members were encouraged to wear something in those colours, with a Christmas flavour. A beautiful tree, decorated in those colours by member Helen Manson, was resplendent in the corner of the lounge.
Stand-in president, Lion Joan Dennison, welcomed 24 members and five guests. Members introduced their guests. We sang Happy Birthday to Rowena, and Jenny gave the invocation. A lovely two-course buffet meal was enjoyed by all. The pulling of the Christmas crackers created lots of fun.

Our club had the chocolate wheel operating again at the Strawberry Fair. It was a successful day, and thanks to the Waimate Scouts who helped sell the tickets.
The evening’s raffles were won by Tony Sadler (2), Jenny Kinsman, Cheryl Jones, Christine Dirs, Helen Manson & Mavis Andrew. Tail Twister Rowena collected fines from many, and gave us some jokes.
Time for Mother Christmas to arrive with her big sack of goodies. There was much delight ,with presents received by all. President Joan gave the closing thought, and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2026. An enjoyable and successful year brought to a close. — Judy McRae
