Organising committee spokesman Simon Cleverley said he had been "blown away" by the generosity of donors wishing to help Bryn, who is nearly 2, and who has had to undergo two major surgeries to remove brain cancer this year.
Mr Cleverley said the sum raised came from a Givealittle page donations online and live auctions, plus personal donations.
"When we repurposed the social Waitangi Day Roll Up bowling tournament as a fundraiser for Bryn and his family, we had no idea it would take off like this. It’s just been an epic day, and an epic effort by the South Otago community once more to help one of its own."
Sixty-four amateur bowlers duked it out in bright Catlins sunshine on Sunday, before taking part in a live auction and further social activities.
Parents Bronwyn and Jade, of Kaka Point, remain with the convalescing Bryn in Christchurch, and were unavailable for comment.
