Clutha offers official welcome

All three major roads leading into Clutha Country now have official welcome signs for motorists and others venturing into the district.

District boundary signs were last week erected at Clutha's southern boundary on State Highway 1 near Waipahi and at Raes Junction on State Highway 8.

The first sign, placed at the northern boundary near Waihola, went up in January.

Clutha District Council district development board chairman Jeff Seymour said he was delighted all three boundary signs were now up.

"The end result is looking fantastic and I'm sure visitors to our district will appreciate the warm and friendly welcome."

District development manager Julie Pearse said most of the smaller district boundary signs planned for various other arterial routes had also now been erected.

Two more were planned for West Otago to complete the project.

The next step was constructing information kiosks at Tapanui, Kaka Point and Papatowai.
