Balclutha couple Steven Shearer and Mandie Brown will tie the knot publicly as part of the Big River Festival being staged on the Clutha riverbank in Balclutha on Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14.
Festival organisers, Project Clutha, are thrilled they have agreed to share their big day with the entire community.
Five couples from as far away as Alexandra had expressed interest in getting married as part of the festival.
Group chairwoman Sarah Andrew yesterday said the Balclutha couple were the only ones to officially sign up for the big day.
The wedding ceremony will be conducted by Clutha Mayor Juno Hayes at 1pm on the riverbank by the Balclutha Bridge.
"We are thrilled to be able to share this special day with Mandie and Steven.
"We have had so much fun organising this wedding and are going to ensure that it is perfect for the couple and what they have always wanted," Ms Andrew said.
Invitations were sent to the couple's family and friends this week.
They will join the newlyweds in the festival marquee after the ceremony while the wider public can watch the wedding from vantage points around the riverbank.
The group is helping the couple plan their big day and has arranged several gifts, with what Miss Andrew calls "fantastic" support from businesses.
These include a wedding cake, drinks and nibbles, haircare, make-up, outfits for the bride and groom, floral art, photography and free accommodation on their wedding night.
"This wedding is going to look like a million dollars. We still have a few surprises up our sleeves for the happy couple."
