The scheduled Standing Committee meetings will be followed by a full council extraordinary meeting.
The meeting agenda states that the council will be asked whether to adopt the ''Easter Sunday Shop Trading Policy'' proposed last year.
If adopted, the policy would allow trading by all businesses on Easter Sunday in the Clutha district.
At present, trading is limited to certain trades such as service stations, dairies, restaurants and garden centres.
Some of the advantages of expanding trade identified in the meeting agenda were that the legislation better aligned with reported views of the retail and the tourism industries.
It also aligned with the council's strategy for economic growth.
However, some disadvantages included the fact it conflicted with Christian religious groups and ''traditional family values''.
The agenda also said even though the proposed legislation included protection for workers who did not wish to work the Easter Sunday, there was a chance they could be penalised or could feel compelled to work.
Public consultation on the policy closed almost three weeks ago and four submissions were received.
Three were against the change while one ''fully supports'' a policy which gave individual businesses the choice to open on Easter Sunday.
