The onset of the festive season means the public has been given nearly eight weeks to make submissions to plans for a small wind farm near Milton.
New Zealand Windfarms Ltd wants permission to erect up to nine turbines on a Mt Stuart farm, halfway between Milton and Lawrence.
The Clutha District Council yesterday publicly notified the resource consent application.
Planning and environment manager Murray Brass said applications usually attract a submissions period of 20 working days but because the wind farm application was being notified close to the Christmas and New Year period, the deadline for submissions had been extended beyond the legal minimum.
Submissions close at 5pm on Thursday, February 4.
