Toko approach every season with a winning mentality, and this year is no different.

Coming off the back of a good run in its 125th jubilee year last year, reaching its target top four, club president Brad Frost said goals for the premier side remained the same.

“It was a very competitive season last year, which was great for the fans coming to watch.

“We enjoyed a fantastic jubilee weekend, winning both our Prems and Senior matches with some exciting rugby, which topped off what was a very enjoyable weekend for all.

“We're sad to see the back of some of our long-standing players this season, who've taken the high of the anniversary as a good time to step away from their rugby.

“The reduction in overall numbers means our seniors are joining forces with Crescent this season, fielding a joint side, and we've got some bright new faces joining the Prems.”

He said the Prems would field a combination of “youth and experience” this year.

“We've got a good squad of 30 or so players, and our coaches are working hard to ensure we continue to play with width and pace this season, and take every game on.”

The club was continuing a programme of clubroom upgrades, and had launched a Toko Bricks & Mortar campaign to raise funds.

“We've redone the roof and windows, which makes a massive difference to post-match comfort for teams, supporters and visitors. We've still got a few things left to do, so we appreciate any sponsorship forthcoming.

“Anyone donating $500 or more will automatically get their name up in the club for keeps.”

He thanked Calder Stewart for their support towards refurbishments to date, and all club sponsors for their ongoing support.

“Thanks to all our sponsors – it's you that make us tick. We couldn't do it without your continued generosity and support.”

Frost said the club remained on a high following last year’s jubilee celebrations.

“That morale has persisted into this season, and you can see it out on the pitch.

“The boys are in good spirits, despite a couple of tough opening fixtures, and we're looking forward to ripping into it for the rest of the season.”
