Fulton Hogan heavy haul manager Pete Harrison, of Dunedin, said the 11m-wide house was being shifted 50km from Taumata Rd near Ashley Downs to Kaka Point.
Mr Harrison said the house was a "big one".
Road signs had to be removed to make way for the house, which restricted some traffic movements in the morning.
