Secondary-school pupils in Clutha will be in line for a new award which will feature on the annual event that celebrates the achievements of volunteers throughout the district.
The TrustPower Youth Community Spirit Award will be presented at this year's community service awards, sponsored by the power company since 2000.
Clutha District Council corporate services administrator Alison Ludemann said the new award aimed to recognise service given by a secondary-school pupil to both the school and wider community.
It will be open to all year 13 pupils and pupils from the district's five secondary schools will be eligible.
