The Greenfield Tavern's Valley Roar hunting and fishing competition, was held from April 12 to 14.
Organiser Karen Mills, owner of the Greenfield Tavern, said the competition, in its second year, raised about $6000 for the Clutha Valley Volunteer Fire Brigade and South Otago search and rescue groups.
''We doubled the numbers from last year - about 250 entries plus children and families. It was just cool.''
She said the fishing was also much better this year.
Good weather for the event was a bonus, attracting a good crowd for the family day, Ms Mills said.
Children and adults alike took part in an obstacle course - carrying an animal of their choice through tyres and over fences.
''We had such amazing community support. It's a good family event and it's a way to give back to our community.''
The competition offered prizes for the best antlers and tusks, as well as heaviest red stag, heaviest fallow buck, heaviest pig and heaviest bag of all three.
