Two Kaitangata men, allegedly involved in a long-running and often violent feud in the town, have been arrested and will appear in court this morning.
Police are anxious to stop any further trouble and are appealing to the Kaitangata community to come forward with any information they may have.
The men, aged 22 and 23, spent last night in police custody and will appear in the Dunedin District Court charged with burglary and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an incident at a Kaitangata house last September.
Sergeant Martin Bull, of Balclutha, said the incident appeared to be the first in a series of ongoing incidents involving the two men.
The victim only recently came forward and made a complaint, allowing police to investigate further.
The feud, involving several parties in Kaitangata, had been escalating since September, he said.
Incidents since then had included intentional damage and an attempted arson at a Needle St house.
In September, an altercation occurred outside a house and an assault occurred later, he said.
