Shearing 'family' to hold reunion

A shearing business regarded more as a family will gather for a reunion in South Otago at Labour weekend.

Between 70 and 80 past and present staff of Milton-based Michelle Shearing will gather and exchange stories of their times with the company.

Reunion committee member Philippa Roulston said former staff from as far away as Australia would attend the two-day event.

The business was established in 1971.

Mrs Roulston said the group decided the time was right "because we were more like a family than a shearing business".

The reunion starts at the Milton Country Club on Saturday, October 24 and will include a "nostalgic tour" of several sites, including farms and shearing sheds.
