An Irish accent may not be needed, but a big voice for some bar-room singing could help those auditioning for parts in its next production, the South Otago Theatrical Society says.
It is staging a theatre restaurant show called Shenanigan's Wake, which will be directed by Hilary Norris, of Dunedin.
The show focuses on the wake for Seamus Shenanigan.
Society publicity officer Sarah Andrew said the play was set in New Zealand, so an Irish accent was not essential.
"However, it would be useful, as would the ability to hold a tune as there are some incredibly funny and exciting bar-room type songs," she said.
Auditions will be held at the society's clubrooms on August 24 from 1pm. The show will be performed from October 30 to November 8.
