A resource consent has been sought  to subdivide land at Toko Mouth near Milton.

The pending notified resource consent application was made by Toko Developments Ltd and there wil be an official hearing on Monday.

Resource consent is sought to subdivide a 4.6ha  site at Toko Mouth into nine smaller allotments.

Eight of the allotments will be  for residential use and the ninth will continue to be used for farming. The balance of the title will be held in the ninth lot.The land, in Coast Rd, is being used for grazing  at present. The proposal stated access to the subdivision would be at Toko Mouth Domain Rd and via an existing metalled road.Ten submissions were received in response to the proposal, all of which requested an alternative to Toko Mouth Domain Rd  being used for access.

Nine of the responses were neutral and only one was against the proposal.

Dawn Lloyd’s neutral response stated ‘‘upwards of 20 children’’ used Toko Mouth Domain Rd during busy periods. She noted the proposed access to the subdivision would increase traffic volumes and affect the safety of the children.

She suggested vehicle access to the subdivision should be in Wangaloa-Toko Mouth Rd instead. Other responses had similar requests. The application document stated the subdivision design reflected land use patterns of the Toko Mouth rural settlement. It said the site was influenced by adjoining development and was considered  an extension of the settlement. The lots would vary in size from 1500sqm  to 1710sq m. Each allotment would be self-serviced via on-site wastewater systems and water collection. The hearing for the resource consent application will be held at 1pm on Monday at the Coronation Hall in Milton.samuel.white@odt.co.nz
