Getting to grips with parenting and the skills for that role will be debated and shared at an event organised for this month's Clutha community wellness programme.
A free gathering in Milton will encourage parents and grandparents to discuss the good and the difficult areas of parenting so those present can learn from each other.
Programme co-ordinator Irene Mosley said parenting was one of the hardest jobs in the world.
"It is a 24-hour-a-day position, with no pay. However, with some skills and hints, it can be enjoyable and also the most rewarding job in the world."
The meeting will be held at the Milton Senior Citizens Rooms on Tuesday, August 11, at 10am.
An information evening for women covering the myths and truths about menopause will be held as part of the programme.
A doctor, chemist and naturopath will be at the Rosebank Lodge in Balclutha on Tuesday, August 18, at 7.30pm, to discuss menopause from their particular perspectives.
An initiative seeking old fireguards will also be launched in August, Mrs Mosley said.
Anyone who had a fireguard they no longer needed was being asked to consider passing them on to community agencies who worked with families with small children living in rented accommodation.
