Possible changes to the Clutha district's wards will be discussed by councillors at a meeting in Balclutha today.
Recommendations made to the Clutha District Council by the representation review working party include retaining the existing number of councillors (14), but advise changing ward boundaries within the district.
The Clutha district is split into eight wards - Balclutha, Bruce, Catlins, Clinton, Clutha Valley, Kaitangata Matau, Lawrence Tuapeka, and West Otago.
The possible ward boundary changes would also affect the Lawrence Tuapeka and West Otago community boards, with one decreasing in size and the other increasing.
The working party's recommendations include removing Tuapeka Mouth and part of the Waitahuna West area from the Lawrence Tuapeka ward, adding it to Clutha Valley.
It also recommended the Waipahi area be added to the West Otago ward.
The representation review is required by law every six years and requires community consultation.
The recommendations will be discussed at the council's meeting at 1.30pm today.
