All go for store’s opening after months of planning

Torpedo7 staff members are gearing up to open their doors for the first time in Invercargill today.

The 1200sqm store in Leven St will feature a specialist on-site bike and snow workshop.

Regional manager Tama Taura said there was a clear demand to establish a shop within the region.

‘‘We have a lot of Southland customers who have previously had to shop further afield, like in Dunedin or Queenstown.

‘‘So to bring the store to Invercargill we know people have been waiting for it.’’

The team was excited to open after about six months of planning and preparations.

‘‘Doing a project like this is exciting for everybody. For us, it’s been the last week of urgency with containers of stock landing, and getting it into the store to meet the deadline for opening.’’

The newly recruited staff members were mainly Southlanders with a varied and wide background of knowledge on the outdoors, he said.
