Back on track in Southland

Queensland's elite cyclist Byron Davies gets in some final training at Invercargill's SIT Zero Fees Velodrome ahead of the 2020 Oceania Track Cycling Championships.

The velodrome is set to host 40 events across elite and under-19 categories for men and women between October 16 and 19.

Riders from New Zealand, Australia, Guam, Fiji, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Tahiti, Northern Mariana Islands, and New Caledonia will compete.

Cycling Southland administration and communications adviser Melissa Chilton said the event attracted riders who were the "cream of the crop'' from the Oceania area.

"We only get to host this every four years and it's always extra special to have this level of elite back on the Southland board.

We love to see our Southland and Kiwi elites racing and winning against their international rivals.''
