Christmas festival moves indoors

Wet and windy weather forced the cancellation of the Bluff Christmas parade yesterday but it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of those attending the Christmas festival.

Hundreds braved the cold at the Christmas in the Bluff festival to partake in a range of festive activities.

Bluff promotions officer Lindsay Beer said organisers kept a close eye on the weather before making the difficult decision to cancel the parade.

Holding the festival at the Bluff Oyster Festival site, however, meant the crowds could stay warm and dry under the shelters, which were big enough to host all the usual events, he said.

Local businesses set up a range of craft and food stalls, while mini Jeeps, face-painting, a bouncy castle and a jelly-eating competition kept the children happy.
